About the Company: We are currently seeking a talented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading consultancy firm based in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic and supportive team, working on exciting projects across various sectors.

About the Role: As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide support to senior Quantity Surveyors, assisting in the cost management and contract administration of projects. You will contribute to the successful delivery of projects through detailed financial assessment, accurate measurement, and effective cost control.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the production of tender documentation, supporting the tender process, financial assessment, and preparation of tender reports.
  • Undertake measurement and billing of quantities in accordance with relevant standard methods of measurement (e.g., MMHW, CESMM, NRM).
  • Prepare comprehensive preamble notes to support measurement and bills of quantities, documenting assumptions and sources.
  • Codify measured work items to prescribed cost and work breakdown structures.
  • Collect, analyse, and report cost data while addressing any inconsistencies or omissions.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and cost reports, ensuring thorough collation of supporting documentation.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in commercial management and contract administration, particularly cost management, payments, variations, and final account settlement.
  • Understanding of procurement and contract strategies, including their benefits and limitations.
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract relevant to the sector.
  • Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel is essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proactive and innovative approach, with the confidence to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Commitment to professional development, with a willingness to attain professional qualifications (MRICS or similar).
