Working for a leading service provider within the UK warehouse and distribution sector, specialising in the movement and storage of fresh, ambient, and chilled goods. This is a great opportunity for someone with transport office and vehicle planning experience who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Working Hours: 48 hours per week. Some flexibility required to meet operational demands.
About You: You’ll ideally come from a FMCG or general haulage background, with hands-on experience in a transport office. You’ll be organised, proactive, and confident communicating with drivers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan daily deliveries in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Effectively utilise drivers, vehicles, and subcontractors.
- Communicate job details clearly to drivers and subcontractors.
- Brief drivers before departure and de-brief upon return, ensuring all documentation is complete.
- Monitor driver status, delays, and issues, maintaining clear communication with customer services.
- Ensure tachograph data, driving licence, and ID checks are completed in line with compliance requirements.
- Allocate work in line with Operating Licence legislation.
- Ensure vehicle and trailer servicing is completed on time and remains compliant.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain strong communication with internal departments and customers.
- Provide support, guidance, and holiday/sickness cover for fellow planners/operators.
- Ensure a thorough handover for incoming shifts.
- Support the Senior Management team with additional tasks when required.
