Role Overview: Pertemps is looking for a dedicated and proactive Legal Assistant: Commercial to join the growing team at the London Borough of Harrow. This temporary position offers an hourly rate of up to £16.19 - £17.66 PAYE and comes with valuable training opportunities, strong career development prospects, and 21 days of annual leave (excluding Bank Holidays).
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as lead paralegal on commercial matters-property, planning, regeneration, contracts and procurement-handling case files end-to-end for shared-services councils and external clients.
- Rotate between specialist teams to broaden your legal expertise and cover diverse practice areas.
- Carry out targeted legal research, draft advice and documentation, and support solicitors as required.
- Assist in developing and delivering training sessions for officers-sessions may take place off-site or outside standard hours.
- Serve as a super-user of the electronic case-management system, providing administrative and technical support.
- Work under the guidance of qualified lawyers, escalating issues and ensuring files remain up to date.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a legal environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate productively within a team.
- Strong written and verbal legal-advice skills, with experience briefing officers or clients.
- Track record of managing your own caseload-with minimal supervision-in at least one of these areas: property, planning, regeneration, contracts or procurement.
- Experience delivering legal guidance or training in a public forum.
