Our partnered schools in Harrow are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their friendly and supportive teams. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who need additional help to reach their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupils with a variety of needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social and emotional needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Your role will involve providing one-to-one or small group support, helping pupils to access the curriculum and develop confidence both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
- Implement strategies to promote positive learning and behaviour.
- Assist with lesson preparation and differentiated learning activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
- Provide emotional and social support to help pupils engage and thrive.
- Record progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
Requirements
- Experience working with children with SEN (school-based or voluntary).
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- A patient, adaptable, and compassionate nature.
- (Desirable) Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 TA, CACHE, or equivalent.
- (Desirable) Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other SEN support strategies.
