We are working in partnership with a highly regarded independent SEN school in Kingston upon Thames to recruit an Aspiring Speech & Language Support Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or aspiring therapist who is passionate about supporting pupils with communication needs and is considering a future career in Speech & Language Therapy, SEN teaching, or Educational Psychology.

The Role
As a Speech & Language Support Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with Speech & Language Therapists, SEN teachers, and pastoral staff to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. Your role will be vital in helping pupils develop their communication, interaction, and confidence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils with identified speech, language, and communication needs
- Implementing speech and language programmes designed by qualified therapists
- Providing 1:1 and small group interventions
- Supporting classroom learning through communication-friendly strategies
- Promoting social communication, emotional regulation, and independence
- Monitoring progress and contributing to review meetings and reports
The Ideal Candidate
This role is particularly well suited to candidates who are aspiring Speech & Language Therapists or SEN professionals. We are keen to hear from candidates who have:
- A genuine interest in speech, language, and communication needs
- Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or voluntary)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A relevant degree (e.g. Linguistics, Psychology, Childhood Studies, SEN) – desirable but not essential
