Job Purpose: To ensure the fair and proper conduct of examinations in accordance with awarding body regulations, maintaining a calm, secure, and controlled exam environment for all candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination rooms before candidates arrive, including setting out desks, papers, and equipment in line with regulations
- Admit candidates to the examination room and verify their identity
- Ensure candidates are seated correctly and understand exam instructions
- Distribute and collect examination papers and materials
- Supervise candidates throughout the examination to prevent malpractice
- Respond appropriately to candidate queries in accordance with exam regulations
- Record attendance and report any incidents, irregularities, or breaches of exam rules
- Escort candidates if they need to leave the room during the examination
- Ensure exam conditions are maintained until all materials are securely returned
Person Specification:
Essential:
- High level of attention to detail and vigilance
- Hold a valid DBS on the update service
- Ability to follow strict procedures and regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, professional manner and ability to manage groups
- Punctual, reliable, and flexible
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience as an exam invigilator or in a supervisory role
- Familiarity with awarding body regulations (e.g. JCQ)
- Experience working in an educational environment
