Join a Leading Heavy Engineering Manufacturer
Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking to develop your career within a high-performing, heavy industrial environment? Our client, a market-leading manufacturer, is seeking a proactive engineer to join their maintenance team. This is a day shift position with occasional 4 on / 4 off shift cover, offering long-term stability, excellent support, and involvement in continuous improvement and high-value engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out hands-on mechanical maintenance across heavy industrial production lines and associated plant.
- Lead TPM and PPM activities to maximise equipment performance and minimise downtime.
- Act as the main maintenance contact for production operations and contractor management.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, conducting detailed fault-finding and root cause analysis.
- Drive reliability improvements and support ongoing optimisation projects.
- Collaborate closely with production and engineering teams across the facility.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure correct materials are on hand.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior engineers.
- Support machinery upgrades, installs, and plant expansion projects.
- Maintain strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and risk assessments.
Candidate Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering Qualification: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC; HNC advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a medium or heavy industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Hydraulics & pneumatics
- Fluid power systems
- Welding/fabrication
- Machine shop practices
- Confident interpreting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Experience with annealing, induction furnaces, casting or rolling equipment is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and provide cover on a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern for holidays and absence.
Working Pattern:
- Primary: Day Shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm)
- Flexibility: Occasional 4 on / 4 off shift cover as required
