We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join a fast paced Food and Beverage logistics operation based in Derby. This role sits within a busy control tower environment and plays a key part in ensuring the smooth and cost effective planning and routing of vehicles across the network.
Hours of Work: 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday Temp to perm
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and route vehicles efficiently to ensure full utilisation of resources
- Liaise with customer service teams to resolve delivery related issues
- Ensure all vehicles are planned in line with customer SLAs
- Manage subcontractor usage and ensure costs align with agreed rates
- Resolve subcontractor financial queries in a timely manner
- Work closely with Transport Managers to address operational issues
- Provide final route plans to the warehouse within agreed deadlines
- Plan ahead for peak periods and secure necessary transport resource
- Support performance monitoring against customer KPIs
Skills and Experience Required:
- Previous experience in a transport planning role at a supervisory level
- Experience working with subcontractors
- Strong UK geographical knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Confident user of Microsoft Office including Excel
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Strong organisational, time management and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of ESP or GTS systems would be desirable
