Role Purpose
To monitor and control heat treatment processes to achieve specific material properties, while ensuring compliance with quality standards and all relevant health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate specialised heat treatment equipment to process metals and alloys according to precise procedures.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality results through careful process adherence.
- Follow all health and safety procedures when operating equipment and handling heated materials.
- Keep the work area clean and organised, ensuring safe storage of tools, materials, and equipment.
- Detect and report any equipment faults or process deviations that could affect safety or product quality.
- Monitor and control temperature parameters during cycles to maintain consistent treatment outcomes.
- Load and unload components correctly, ensuring accurate placement for uniform results.
- Understand and apply knowledge of N Type Thermocouples - Maximum operating temperature: 800°C Minimum operating temperature: 480°C Cycle durations: 4 to 16 hours.
Essential Skills
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical procedures accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and process troubleshooting ability.
- Clear and confident communication skills.
- System Accuracy Tests (SATS) Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS).
- Good IT and PC skills.
- Familiarity with NADCAP environments and AMS2750 standards is essential.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of hardness testing, particularly using Vickers equipment.
- Experience using degreasing baths.
- Surface finishing experience (e.g. grit or glass blasting).
