We are seeking a driven, technically minded engineer to join our Pumping Stations team. This role involves working closely with clients across sectors including construction, architects, and consultants, advising on the sizing and selection of pumping station systems to achieve fit-for-purpose, cost-effective solutions where gravity access to the sewer isn't possible. This role is technical and advisory, not a commission-based sales role, and requires strong problem-solving skills, engineering knowledge, and the ability to prepare tenders and quotations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise clients on pumping station system selection and design solutions.
- Produce accurate tenders, quotations, and technical documentation for projects.
- Work closely with construction and consulting teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective.
- Apply engineering principles and calculations to develop robust system proposals.
- Liaise with internal teams including design, project management, and service to coordinate proposals.
- Maintain project records and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support ongoing improvement initiatives within the Pumping Stations team.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Some engineering experience, ideally in construction, civil engineering, or groundworks.
- Ability to prepare technical tenders and quotations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Office and CAD software (desirable).
- A practical understanding of construction processes or groundworks is advantageous but not essential.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with a team.
Details of this Proposals Engineer role
- £27,500 to £30,000 depending on experience.
- Flexibility to work contracted hours over 4 days (subject to workload and manager approval).
- 30 days holiday including statutory, rising to 33 days after 1 year.
- Annual company performance bonus (non-contractual).
- Auto-enrolment pension with a 5% employee contribution; employer contributions funded after 3 years' service.
- Private healthcare (taxable), critical illness cover, and death-in-service benefit after qualifying period.
