An excellent opportunity has become available for a motivated and hands-on Yard Engineer to join a leading generator specialist in the Southwest. Our client is looking for someone to support their East Grinstead depot in the service and maintenance of their rental fleet as well as customers’ own equipment. You’ll be a key part of their team, working closely with internal and external customers, providing updates, ensuring high standards of service, and contributing to a smooth-running depot.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, service and maintain hire fleet generators and ancillary equipment
- Diagnose faults and carry out breakdown repairs on rental and customer equipment
- Attend customer sites to assist with synchronising generators for various applications
- Support yard operations, including loading and offloading equipment
- Operate a forklift within the yard
- Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles, including refuelling
- Maintain yard and workshop cleanliness and organisation
- Assist customers on-site with running out cables as required
- Conduct site surveys for special jobs
- Participate in the on-call rota (1 week in 4)
- Liaise daily with the Depot Foreman regarding allocation of equipment, parts, oil, and fuels
- Comply with Health & Safety policies, including daily vehicle safety checks
- Follow ISO 9001:2015 procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience with generators and strong fault-finding abilities
- Mechanical or electrical background essential
- Full driving licence essential (towing categories preferred)
- Forklift licence preferred (training can be provided)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- CSCS / ECS Card preferred (training can be provided)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
