We are seeking an experienced and reliable Shunter for a 4-week placement in Ashford, Kent. As a Shunter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth movement of vehicles and trailers within a controlled environment.

Location: Ashford (Kent)

Pay Rate: £15.62 per hour

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off rota

Duration: 4-week placement (starting end of April)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely manoeuvring HGVs and trailers in and around the site, including parking, coupling, and uncoupling.
  • Conducting pre- and post-movement safety checks on vehicles and trailers.
  • Coordinating with team members to ensure vehicles are positioned in loading bays or designated areas efficiently.
  • Using hand signals or communication systems to guide movements and maintain site safety.
  • Identifying and reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Supporting overall site operations to ensure smooth logistical workflows.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Shunter or in a similar role.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota.
  • A Basic DBS certificate is essential for this role.
