Our National Transport and Logistics client are looking for a Customs & Operations Manager on a full time permanent basis at their Rugby depot. Salary – £42k 40 Hours per week, Monday to Friday Hours the team are operating 06:00 -20:00 Lots of additional company benefits Training given as and when needed for personal progression Progression opportunities availableThe role is looking after a team of 15 – split in 2 areas – Customs Export & Imports and Customer Service / Document Checking and you will have various responsibilities to the Customer, Stakeholders and People Management. Direct Customer Facing Role Part of the Control Tower Management team Once or twice a month visits to customer HO in Watford Fully office based role at our site in Rugby 3 Direct Reports – each with a team Operations Experience Desirable – in Planning / Control Tower setting Customs Experience Desirable – preferably between UK and EU / IE Account Management Experience – DesirableRole Purpose • To manage the Customs teams within the Control Tower providing facilitating the movement of orders cross border for • Lead the Customs team managing Export & Import activity along with query resolution, Proof of Exports and tax queries • Lead the team managing document checking activity along with vendor relationships, training and bookings • Accountable for Engagement, Employee development and Succession planning across the Customs teams • Responsible for the relationship with Planning, Hauliers and Warehouse to manage the cross border movements and queries • Responsible for broker management, engagement and regular reviews of performance Key Tasks • Responsible for the delivery of service and operational excellence in the Customs area • To establish and continue the development of strong two-way relationships within the UK & EU Network with both partners and external providers • Responsible for the financial performance of the Customs activity • Responsible for the delivery of process and continuous improvement activities within the Customsoperations Key Accountabilities • Accountable for the achievement of EBIT for Customs and operations • Accountable for the delivery of initiatives & savings across own area of responsibility • Accountable for the achievement of contractual customs KPIs & ensure brokerage partners & hauliers are managed to agreed SLA’s • Accountable for the customer relationship with the Customs and Operations teams, measured against Customer survey results • Accountable for H&S, Engagement, Broker Management,Employee development and Succession Planning across the Customs team Requirements • Experience in Supply Chain division, ideally with a retail customer • Experience in Customs Operations, ideally between UK and EU • Customs and Planning Operations Experience • Customer relationship management skills • People Management experience • International or European experience desirable If the above roles sounds of interest to you and you have the relevant skills and experience within the Transport and Logistics Supply Chain retail sector, please apply today
