Overview
Design Team Leader needed to manage a small but highly skilled design team. This hands-on leadership role ensures projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards. You will work closely with other departments to drive forward innovation, mentor team members, and oversee the full product lifecycle—from concept through to delivery.
Location and work pattern
- Based in Clevedon, BS21
- Mon-Fri / 8am-5pm
- Hybrid (3 days in the office / 2 days WFH)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a multi-disciplinary design team.
- Manage project planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
- Hands-on hardware system design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
- Support the introduction of new products while improving existing designs.
- Ensure quality, compliance and commercial goals are achieved across all projects.
- Collaborate with production, test and service teams to ensure a robust design process.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
- Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, Embedded Systems or equivalent.
- Proven experience in hardware system design.
- Strong experience in schematic and PCB layout (OrCad preferred).
- Skilled in the use of electrical test equipment (PSUs, load banks, DMM/DVM, oscilloscopes/analysers, signal/function generators).
- Creative and methodical approach to design and test with strong analytical fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of software IDEs, development boards, and emulators (advantageous).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel, Teams/SharePoint).
- Experience with Agile management tools (e.g. JIRA) and 123 Insight (advantageous).
