Pertemps Network Group are supporting a leading housing provider in recruiting a Resident Engagement Officer to play a key role in delivering the Council’s Resident Involvement Strategy, supporting meaningful and effective engagement with tenants, leaseholders, and wider housing communities. The role focuses on building strong resident networks, supporting Tenant and Resident Associations (TRAs), Champion groups, Sheltered Housing Representatives, and ensuring residents have clear, accessible avenues to influence service improvements. The post holder will develop partnerships, manage engagement activities, and help strengthen resident voice across all Housing Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Engagement & Support
    • Support residents to establish new Tenant and Resident Associations (TRAs) and provide ongoing assistance to existing groups to ensure strong, effective engagement.
    • Promote and coordinate involvement with Block and Street Champions and Sheltered Housing Tenant Representatives.
    • Act as the first point of contact for residents wishing to get involved or raise concerns requiring service improvements.
    • Proactively encourage resident participation across projects such as CCTV upgrades, bike shelters, environmental improvements, and wider service initiatives.
  • Governance & Participation
    • Assist the Head of Resident Involvement & Participation in ensuring appropriate governance arrangements for TRAs and resident groups.
    • Support the delivery of service improvement groups and forums, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, circulating papers, and tracking actions.
    • Help maintain an up-to-date database of resident communication preferences, including accessibility needs.
  • Engagement Activities & Communication
    • Arrange and deliver engagement activities including digital communications, newsletters, drop-ins, focus groups, meetings, and housing information events.
    • Communicate project aims clearly and ensure residents receive timely, accessible information.
    • Promote inclusion by ensuring that residents with protected characteristics are meaningfully represented in engagement work, embedding co-production throughout.
    • Build strong communication channels with internal teams, contractors, housing associations, voluntary sector partners, and local community organisations.
  • Service Improvement & Insight
    • Develop local insight by working with team members to inform estate profiles and better understand residents’ needs.
    • Support the creation and implementation of engagement plans that build trust, transparency, and long-term resident involvement.
    • Implement innovative methods to enhance the resident experience and engagement offer.
  • Compliance, Reporting & Professional Standards
    • Draft responses to councillor enquiries, MP letters, FOI requests, and other correspondence in collaboration with corporate teams.
    • Ensure all work complies with GDPR, confidentiality requirements, and the Council’s Equality & Diversity standards.
    • Contribute to climate and ecological emergency objectives by aligning work with council commitments.
    • Work flexibly across community locations, office bases, and online platforms, including attending some evening and weekend meetings.
