An established logistics and distribution business based in Birmingham is currently seeking an experienced Transport & Warehouse Manager to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day logistics and warehousing operations. This is a key leadership role within a fast-paced, cross-dock and pallet network environment, where attention to detail, a proactive approach, and strong people management skills are essential.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and management of transport planning, warehouse operations, drivers, and workshop teams. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient movement of goods, meeting service levels, and driving operational performance across the site.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the daily operations of transport, warehouse, and workshop teams to ensure productivity, safety, and service excellence.
- Leading, coaching, and developing staff to deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
- Managing transport planning to ensure all collections and deliveries are executed efficiently, with an emphasis on vehicle utilisation and cost control.
- Ensuring all fleet maintenance and compliance issues are addressed in a timely manner in collaboration with the workshop team.
- Monitoring performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), taking action to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintaining high standards of compliance, health & safety, and operational discipline across all areas of responsibility.
- Using data analysis to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and implement improvement strategies.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar Transport or Logistics Manager role, ideally within a cross-dock or pallet network environment.
- Possession of a National (or higher) CPC in Transport Management.
- Strong leadership capabilities, with experience managing diverse teams across transport, warehouse, and workshop functions.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to drive change, motivate staff, and influence positive behaviour.
- A strong commitment to health & safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational skills, with a keen eye for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Proficiency in transport-related software and general IT systems.
