Job Title: Process Engineer Location: South Birmingham Salary: £45,000K Per Annum Hours: 08:30 -17:00PM Pertemps are recruiting on behalf of a leading automotive supplier, recognised globally for delivering advanced manufacturing solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to join their team at a pivotal time of growth, innovation, and investment. Role Overview We are looking for a proactive Process Engineer to optimise and improve manufacturing operations. The role covers both traditional automotive processes and new technologies for EV applications, offering exposure to mechanical systems, automation, chemical processes, and batch production. The successful candidate will play a key part in scaling up production, commissioning new equipment, and driving continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities Develop, configure, and optimise industrial processes from concept through to start-up and certification Analyse production processes, measure performance, and identify improvement opportunities Design, test, and enhance mechanical and automated systems, including chemical and batch operations Lead process development and optimisation for specialist EV components Conduct feasibility studies and process simulations Manage capital equipment projects from specification to commissioning and handover Produce accurate process documentation and operating instructions Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g. DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone) to resolve quality and efficiency issues Promote Health & Safety standards, good housekeeping, and legislative compliance Drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) Implement and sustain 5S methodology across production areas Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Production, and Design Engineering Skills & Experience Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent) Automotive industry experience Proven experience in process, production, or industrial engineering within manufacturing Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, automation, and continuous improvement Experience with chemical handling and batch production Background in printed circuit manufacturing Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality tools Ability to read technical drawings and interpret measurement/process data Hands-on, solutions-focused, and motivated Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts if required Fully PC literate, with proficiency in data analysis and documentation tools Benefits: 8% Pension Life Assurance 25 days holiday, plus 8 bank Holidays, plus Birthday off New Parent Award Free Parking Interested to know more contact Hayley Whitehead at Pertemps Recruitment Birmingham or call today
