We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support our team in the financial management of research project accounts. This is a key support role, ensuring the accurate processing, monitoring, and reporting of project-related financial data, with a particular focus on compliance, controls, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Following up on and reviewing staff timesheets, ensuring compliance with minimum and funding requirements
- Processing journals, invoices, and other financial transactions within the finance system
- Reviewing and amending system deliverables to strengthen claims and invoicing controls
- Assisting with document retrieval and preparation for year-end audit
- Analysing financial and system-generated reports to identify and correct discrepancies within research project accounts
Essential:
- Strong system skills with the ability to learn new finance systems quickly
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including basic functions such as pivot tables and lookups
- Confidence in communicating and working with a range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues
- Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a busy environment
Desirable:
- Experience supporting research project finance or project management within a Higher Education Institution
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion or similar financial systems
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role
