Are you ready to deliver solutions to complex problems through code?
Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications that meet the needs of Perspectum and our customers. Based within a focused project delivery team, you will work closely with our Software Design Engineering team and Functional Testing team implementing solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
We use AI-assisted development tools as standard practice across the team, so you'll be expected to embrace these as part of your everyday workflow applying your own critical judgement. AI may write most of your code, but you own it and are responsible for ensuring it meets the required standard for scale, security, and performance.
Duties include:
- Designing and developing software solutions that meet customer and business needs.
- Implementing software-based solutions using AI-assisted development tools, in languages applicable to the application in question.
- Proactively reviewing and taking part in solution reviews, focusing on the quality, structure, and intent to ensure continuous improvement.
- Actively contributing to design reviews with a focus on improving the quality of proposals put forward.
- Strengthening the interfaces with other departments through strong relationship building and regular communications.
- Keeping up to date with advances in software development and the evolving capabilities of AI-assisted development tooling.
About You
We are looking for an individual who has both the technical expertise and interpersonal skills to become a proactive member of our team. Software engineers play a pivotal cross-functional role, meaning you must be confident explaining technical solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders and enjoy creative problem solving.
You should be comfortable working in an environment where AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code) are used as standard. The ability to critically evaluate AI-generated output, treating it as a starting point rather than a finished product is essential.
You will also ideally have:
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or relevant technical experience in a real-world setting.
- Experience with cloud computing, ideally AWS but others are acceptable.
- An understanding of test automation and its use in software platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Interest in the context of what you are delivering, rather than purely focusing on the code.
