Personnel Selection Recruitment is seeking a switched-on and technically minded Warehouse Technician to support our client, a technical company based in Basingstoke. This is an ongoing temporary position suited to someone who has previous warehouse experience but is looking for a role with more responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail than a standard warehouse position. You will be handling technical products that are essential to the medical industry, so it is critical that you are careful, accurate and able to follow processes closely. The successful candidate will be confident working with paperwork, stock records, hand scanners and computer systems, ensuring all goods are received, checked, picked, packed and dispatched correctly. This role is a standard day shift Monday to Friday with no weekends. There is some slight flexibility with start and finish times, but the average working week is 40 hours. This is a long term contract of roughly 3 months with a view that it may extend.

THE ROLE

  • Assisting with the unloading of deliveries and ensuring all goods are received, checked and recorded accurately.
  • Picking and packing customer orders, preparing items for shipment or delivery.
  • Assisting with unloading and accurately placing items into stock.
  • Treating products delicately as heavy handed knocks will cause damage to critical technical equipment.
  • Handling technical products with care, ensuring strict standards are followed at all times.
  • Inspecting incoming and outgoing goods to confirm they meet company requirements, reporting any shortages, faults or discrepancies.
  • Completing paperwork and system updates accurately, ensuring stock and order records are maintained correctly.
  • Using hand scanners, computers and warehouse systems as required.
  • Carrying out stock checks and supporting good stock control processes.
  • Completing basic assembly tasks as required.
  • Ensuring products meet safety, quality and packaging requirements before being sent to customers.
  • Liaising with other departments, such as Customer Services and Purchasing, regarding stock queries or issues.
  • Taking responsibility for the security, organisation and cleanliness of the warehouse and goods within your working area.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Previous warehousing experience is required, ideally within a technical, scientific or engineering background.
  • A switched-on, proactive and responsible approach to work.
  • Physically fit as some of the equipment can be heavy.
  • Technically astute, with the ability to understand the importance of careful handling of specialist products.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially when completing paperwork and checking stock.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with a good level of spoken and written English.
  • Confident using hand scanners, computers and warehouse systems when needed.
  • Happy to work in a manual role involving bending, lifting and moving stock.
  • Able to work well as part of a team and communicate with people at all levels.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks when required.
  • Reliable, accurate and mindful of the importance of the products being handled.
