Their products support cutting-edge plant growth research, with every instrument designed and built in the UK. They are now looking for a skilled and detail-focused Precision Assembly Technician to join their manufacturing team in Hoddesdon. This is a hands-on and varied role where you will be assembling high-quality, precision instruments and components to exacting standards.

The Role
As a Precision Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly of specialist scientific instruments and precision components. Your duties will include:
- Assembling small and intricate components to a high standard
- Building and assembling specialist scientific instruments
- Working from engineering drawings, technical instructions and specifications
- Using hand tools and assembly equipment safely and accurately
- Carrying out detailed work where accuracy and attention to detail are essential
- Occasionally assisting with simple workshop tasks, including drilling, tapping and basic machining
- Supporting the modification or creation of jigs and bespoke components when required
- Carrying out quality checks throughout the assembly process
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with experience in a precision, mechanical or technical assembly environment. You may have previously worked in precision engineering, scientific instruments, medical devices, electronics, aerospace, optical equipment, electromechanical assembly or another environment involving detailed and high-quality assembly. Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in precision or intricate assembly
- Good manual dexterity and excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work from engineering drawings, instructions and specifications
- Experience using hand tools and working with small components
- A methodical and quality-focused approach to your work
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
The following would be advantageous but are not essential:
- Experience assembling scientific instruments or similar precision equipment
- Basic machining experience, including drilling and tapping
- Basic lathe experience
- Experience making or modifying jigs or small bespoke parts
- An engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification
