About the Role

We are working on behalf of an established freight forwarding business who are looking for an experienced Customs Operations Supervisor to join their team in Feltham. This is a hands-on senior role for someone with a strong background in customs and freight forwarding. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day customs operations for key customer accounts, making sure service levels are maintained and customs requirements are met. You will also play an important role in developing customer relationships, improving processes and supporting the wider operations team.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the day-to-day customs operations for key customer accounts
  • Make sure agreed SLAs, contracts and customs requirements are being met
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and key stakeholders
  • Act as the main point of contact between customers and internal teams where required
  • Monitor customer volumes, revenue and profitability
  • Prepare and manage regular reports, including monthly customs reporting
  • Identify ways to improve processes, efficiency and customer service
  • Work closely with freight forwarding, logistics and supply chain teams
  • Support customer plans and help develop existing accounts
  • Attend customer meetings both on and off site
  • Coordinate activities between different teams to make sure operations run smoothly
  • Support projects and improvements across customs and freight operations
  • Keep management informed of customer activity, operational issues and progress
  • Work towards agreed budgets and commercial targets
  • Help develop and support members of the wider team
  • Look for opportunities to improve the service offered to existing customers

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience within customs and freight forwarding
  • Strong knowledge of customs procedures and customs regimes
  • Good understanding of international freight and transportation
  • Experience with import and export processes
  • Previous experience in a Customs Supervisor, Customs Manager, Customs Broker, Customs Operations or similar role
  • Good understanding of freight forwarding and supply chain operations
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage several priorities at the same time
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how costs and revenue work within a supply chain
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken
