Hybrid role with travel across Brentwood and Rochford boroughs.
We are recruiting for an Operations Improvement Officer to support the planning, coordination, and improvement of key environmental and frontline services within a local authority setting. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will work across waste management, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, environmental enforcement, and recycling services, helping improve service delivery for residents and commercial customers.

The role:
- Supporting the management team with service planning, coordination, and operational improvement
- Monitoring and improving the efficiency of waste collection, street cleansing, and grounds maintenance services
- Analysing service performance data, KPIs, and operational reports to identify improvement opportunities
- Researching best practice and innovation in environmental services and presenting findings to senior managers
- Handling service related enquiries and complaints with a strong customer service focus
- Supporting the development of technical specifications for procurement and contract management
- Assisting with budget monitoring, cost control, and reviewing staffing and overtime spend
- Liaising with contractors, internal teams, and external stakeholders
- Coordinating staff training, quotations, and annual training programmes
- Supporting the roll out of food waste collections and recycling services to flatted properties
- Supporting the litter bin infrastructure plan and maintaining service databases
- Leading analysis of the Ingatestone wheeled bin trial, including resident feedback and tonnage data
- Providing day to day project support across environmental and operational programmes
Projects you will be involved in:
- Review and development of an Environmental Enforcement Policy
- Procurement of contractors delivering environmental enforcement services
- Development of health and safety communications for operational and frontline teams
