REMOTE Locum Pharmacist Clinical Checker
About Personal Homecare Pharmacy
At Personal Homecare Pharmacy, we take pride in putting our patients at the heart of everything we do.
As a busy distance-selling pharmacy with more than 10 years’ experience in providing fertility medicines, we work closely with NHS and private clinics nationwide to support a seamless and positive patient journey.
Our focus is on delivering safe, accurate and high-quality pharmaceutical services while continuing to develop innovative ways of working across homecare pharmacy.
We are currently looking for experienced Pharmacist to join our growing remote team of Clinical Checkers.
The Opportunity
This is a flexible remote role for experienced pharmacists who are confident working independently and who have strong clinical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to patient safety.
Before commencing independently, you will complete an initial training session via Microsoft Teams with an experienced Homecare Pharmacist, who will take you through the role, processes, systems and expectations.
You will then work remotely carrying out clinical checks on homecare prescriptions, identifying and escalating concerns and accurately recording relevant information within our systems.
Although the role offers flexibility around when hours are worked, we are specifically recruiting pharmacists who can commit to weekend cover.
Applicants must therefore be able to provide availability on Saturdays and/or Sundays, with Sunday availability particularly important to our current operational requirements.
This role would suit pharmacists looking for flexible additional work alongside another role, portfolio pharmacists, or those seeking a remote clinical checking opportunity while still maintaining an active role in patient care.
Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacist Clinical Checker, you will be responsible for clinically checking homecare prescriptions accurately and efficiently, using appropriate official clinical resources and professional judgement.
You will identify prescription anomalies, potential clinical risks and unusual or off‑label doses and ensure that any concerns are appropriately highlighted and escalated.
You will accurately record relevant information within PHP systems and ensure documentation is clear, complete and suitable for audit purposes.
You will be expected to understand the different indications for medicines and apply strong arithmetic, clinical reasoning and logical thinking when interpreting prescribed doses, including induction and variable‑dose regimens.
You will ensure that all activity complies with relevant professional and regulatory standards, including pharmacovigilance obligations, patient confidentiality and data security requirements.
You will communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and internal teams where clarification or further information is required.
You will also be encouraged to provide constructive feedback and contribute to the continued improvement of PHP’s clinical processes, systems and ways of working.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be a registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Have a minimum of two years’ clinical experience.
- Have strong clinical knowledge and confidence in independently reviewing prescriptions.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Have strong arithmetic, critical-thinking and clinical‑reasoning skills.
- Be able to identify anomalies, including unusual and off‑label dosing.
- Have strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Be confident working independently and remotely.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understand relevant RPS Homecare Standards.
- Be comfortable using and adapting to web‑based IT systems and software.
- Be able to complete the initial Teams training session with a Homecare Pharmacist.
- Be able to provide regular weekend availability.
Weekend availability is an essential requirement for the current vacancies.
We are particularly looking for pharmacists who can reliably support our service on Saturdays and Sundays.
While working hours remain flexible and can generally be completed at different times throughout the day, successful applicants must be able to commit to agreed weekend cover on a consistent basis.
Pay
Monday to Saturday – £25.00 per hour
Sunday – £30.00 per hour
What We Offer
We offer a flexible remote‑working environment, with an initial Teams training session to support you in understanding the role and processes before you begin working independently.
You will join a supportive and collaborative team and have the opportunity to contribute to a growing organisation that is continuously developing its systems, services and clinical processes.
