Position: Personal Assistant / Care Assistant

Job Reference: JC06/13/CW18

Hours: 18 hours per week, flexibly between Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am. Hours may include weekends or alternate weekends as discussed at interview. Additional hours available for holiday/sickness cover as required.

Rate: £12.71 per hour

Area: Corby (NN18 area)

About the Employer: The employer is a visually impaired lady, with diabetes, asthma and some mobility issues and therefore uses a wheelchair. A personal assistant is sought to support her independent life and routine.

Main Duties:

  • Breakfast preparation, general household tasks and some admin from Friday to Monday; other tasks may be required as covering.
  • Assist in preparation and cooking of batch meals. Clean and tidy the kitchen afterwards as necessary.
  • Support attendance at occasional local outpatient appointments.
  • Assist with shopping.
  • Provide social inclusion support when out in the community using her mobility scooter or electric wheelchair.
  • Travel to occasional outpatient appointments – a car owner/driver (with business cover) is preferable; mileage will be paid (excluding commute).
  • General household tasks: vacuuming, dusting, hanging washing out, etc.
  • Support with paperwork, reading letters, emails; some computer knowledge preferable; good level of both reading and spoken English desired.
  • Prompt medication administration, ensuring medications have been taken.
  • Any other task within the scope of a personal assistant as reasonably requested by the employer.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Friendly, empathetic support, respecting independence while able to take instruction.
  • Can-do attitude and aptitude to assist the employer.
  • Flexible, trustworthy, active, with a good sense of humour.
  • Vaccinated against Covid-19 is preferred; consideration given to those for whom vaccination is not suitable for reasonable grounds.
