Looking for Personal Assistants to join an existing team to help Ariel, a 90 year old man with Parkinson’s Disease living in seaside Portobello, with family close at hand. We are looking for someone who can work between 2-4 regular days per week, ideally starting in early June. The pay rate is £14.50 per hour on a self-employed basis. Live-in option may be available for the right candidate.
DUTIES
- Personal Care – including toileting, bathing and assisting with mobilising (using a gutter frame and wheelchair) within the home.
- Domestic – all meal planning and preparation plus light domestic duties e.g. laundry, ironing, making the bed, vacuuming, care of cat, etc (there is a weekly cleaner in addition).
- Daily living – assist with daily activities including reading, playing Scrabble, food shopping, local outings to the beach for ice cream, medical appointments, etc.
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with extensive care experience, ideally with an understanding of working with the elderly including early stages of dementia. You will need to be a member of the PVG scheme (or willing to join), hold or be willing to obtain personal carer insurance, and be able to provide two references (if engaged).
