We are seeking two positive, sociable and dependable Personal Assistants to support a 17-year-old young woman as she transitions from secondary school to higher education. This rewarding role involves supporting her to live as independently as possible within her family home and local community. She has spinal muscular atrophy, uses a power wheelchair, and requires physical assistance with daily living. She is bright, capable, and has a great sense of humour, and is looking for supportive individuals who can match her positivity and encouragement.
About the Role
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week
- Work Pattern: core hours to be discussed – flexible at present while waiting confirmation of college timetable
- Additional: 1–2 overnights per month, plus occasional extra hours/leave cover (by agreement)
- Start Date: June 2026
- Pay: £17.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Moving and handling, hoisting, toileting, showering, dressing
- Driving & Transport: Use of large Motability vehicle; support accessing public transport
- Independence & Social Support: Enabling participation in higher education, volunteering, and community activities
- Health & Wellbeing: Supporting hydrotherapy/swimming and staying active
- Daily Living: Cooking, baking, light housework, and dog walking
Female candidates are preferred. A full driving licence and PVG or willingness to apply to the scheme are required.
