In this pivotal role, you will operate at the intersection of empathy, innovation, and design excellence, crafting user experiences that are not only functional and efficient but genuinely supportive of the people delivering and receiving care. We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving lives through design and eager to contribute to software that makes a real-world difference in care environments every day.
What You Will Do:
- Lead end-to-end design initiatives, from discovery through to delivery, applying a user-centred approach to solve complex problems in care documentation and planning.
- Conduct immersive research in care environments to build deep empathy with care professionals and identify opportunities for meaningful innovation.
- Design inclusive and accessible interfaces that cater to diverse users, ensuring our products are usable regardless of technical ability, experience level, or access needs.
- Collaborate strategically with product, engineering, clinical specialists, and business stakeholders to align design decisions with user needs and business objectives.
- Contribute to and maintain a cohesive design system, establishing patterns that enable efficient delivery of consistent, high-quality experiences.
- Influence product strategy through evidence-based design thinking and a deep understanding of user needs.
- Create high-fidelity prototypes and design specifications to effectively communicate design concepts and solutions.
- Facilitate collaborative design sessions and workshops to build shared understanding and drive consensus around complex challenges.
What You Will Bring:
- Substantial UX/UI design experience, particularly in healthcare or other complex, high-risk domains where user error has significant consequences.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates your design process, problem-solving approach, and the impact of your work—particularly how you have simplified complex workflows and created intuitive interfaces for challenging environments.
- Deep research expertise, planning and conducting various types of user research, synthesising findings, and translating insights into actionable design decisions.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, with the ability to create everything from concept sketches to high-fidelity prototypes and design specifications.
- Experience designing for diverse users with varying levels of technical proficiency, creating intuitive experiences even for those with limited digital literacy.
- Excellent communication skills that enable you to articulate design decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- A collaborative mindset and experience working in agile, cross-functional teams to deliver user-focused outcomes.
- Background in service design, considering the end-to-end experience.
- Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
What We Offer:
- A base salary of £45,000 - £55,000 and bonus depending on experience.
- Modern town centre offices in Guildford, with opportunity for ad hoc home working.
- 25 days holiday.
- Net zero pension scheme.
- Additional perks including cycle to work scheme, staff discounts portal and Employee Assistance Programme.
