We are recruiting for a civil Engineer to work in our busy Technical Department. As an Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Technical team overseeing external Design and Engineering Consultants involved in the project management and administration of all technical and design matters for various residential projects. The role of an Engineer is to support a number of housing developments through the delivery of cost-effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate must be adaptable, have a strong and consistent management approach with the consultants together with a good knowledge of site-based civil activities. The role will be based in the Swansea office together with several days on site a week as required.
The role will include:
- Assist in the production of engineering layouts and silt water strategies; and required working drawings.
- Preparing topographical survey information and other assessment reports on land acquired.
- Brief engineering consultants on scope of design, which includes roads, sewers, private drainage, retaining walls, foundation designs, and any other substructures below DPC level either private or adopted.
- Review consultants' engineering drawings and prepare comments if required.
- Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction.
- Prepare cut and fill models to allow costing and land appraisals to be sort.
- Answering engineering-based Technical queries and attend site.
- Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group's Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
- Check/undertake site as-built construction drawings.
What we need from you?
Ideally qualified to HNC level or equivalent in civil engineering/structural engineering with some residential project experience on site as an engineer. By way of technical experience, you will be conversant with current building regulations and CDM. You will also have a thorough knowledge of current EA/Water Authority/Highway regulations and adoption agreements. Must have excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and be able to communicate effectively with both internal departments and external bodies. You must be an enthusiastic and hardworking individual who is willing to undertake all necessary training. Ideally, the successful candidate will have site-based experience with a site engineering background or from a designer background.
