What is the role?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter/Operative to join the Tileworks Team based in Harworth. This role reports to the Plant Manager. The purpose of the role is to work as part of the Production & Maintenance team to ensure that all plant equipment and machinery on site are operating and running efficiently with the minimum amount of downtime and they are kept in safe and good mechanical working order.
What you'll do as a Mechanical Fitter/Operative:
- Accurately report on the work that you have been carried out on the relevant paperwork.
- Constantly monitor manufactured product and machinery are correct or inform the plant manager and report on the relevant paperwork.
- Be prepared to cover for emergency maintenance when required.
- Regularly undertake and eliminate air and fluid leaks.
- Ensure you have an exceptionally good working knowledge of all plant equipment and machinery.
- Ensure that you are adequately trained to run the equipment after servicing or maintenance in order that the production line is able to start & run the equipment without further modifications or adjustments.
- Actively contribute to the creation and review of RA and SSOW.
- Carry out the necessary maintenance operations to all plant equipment and machinery in line with Company requirements.
- Carry out all planned preventative maintenance as requested.
- Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good working and clean condition.
- Assist with the installation of new plant equipment.
- Maintain and monitor the machines and equipment to enable them to achieve their budgeted outputs at the required quality levels.
- Ensure that your work/stores area is kept clean and free from obstructions and waste, maintaining a good standard of general housekeeping.
- Ensure that all machine guards are fitted correctly in accordance with H&S requirements.
- Complete all relevant paperwork associated with the task you are performing in a timely and accurate manner.
- Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the responsible person on shift.
- Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes cooperation with colleagues.
- Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve your efficiency.
- Take care of equipment used while performing your job-related tasks.
- Cooperate with supervision and fellow employees.
- Actively take part in any training requested to enhance your role.
- Safely carry out all manual handling in the correct and trained manner.
- Work safely and always follow all safety rules.
- Perform other duties as required by the business.
What experience do I need?
- Apprentice-trained in mechanical discipline
- Maintenance experience and diagnostics of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical control systems.
