What is the role?

We are excited to be recruiting for an Assistant Buyer to join our Commercial Team. This role focuses on the ordering and procurement of various materials for regional developments as well as assisting with other duties within the buying team, and reports directly into the manager of the Commercial department.

The purpose of the role is to assist with a cost effective and timely supply of materials for projects and contracts to ensure completion is within budget.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support with the procurement and scheduling of materials ensuring compliance with Group Procurement Procedures and quality assurance requirements and regulations to ensure costs are controlled and projects complete on time, within budget and to quality standards
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure a cost effective supply of materials for projects and contracts to ensure completion is within budget
  • Support with the production of accurate and timely valuation reports and management information to enable the Commercial management team to make informed business decisions
  • Work cohesively with other departments across the Operating Company to ensure achievement of targets
  • Comply with the Group Health, Safety and Environment Policy to ensure health and safety standards are met

What experience do I need?

  • Able to work with minimal supervision to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Capable of working on multiple task simultaneously and prioritise workloads
  • A good working knowledge of Excel is an essential
  • Previous experience within the housing sector would be preferable, with a good understanding of housing and construction processes
  • Full UK driving licence
