We require a friendly and enthusiastic Dispenser to join our team at Pershore Medical Practice. The role is full-time (37.5) with hours to be discussed.

Main duties of the job:

  • Process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by the practice doctors, nurse prescribers and pharmacists.
  • Issue repeat prescriptions safely and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
  • Dispense and record private prescriptions.
  • Receive, record and dispense repeat medication requests including entering and extracting information from the computer.
  • Undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
  • Ensure the dispensary area remains clean and tidy at all times.
  • Prepare to undertake any necessary training to ensure that he/she has the necessary skills and competence required.

Job responsibilities:

  • Dispense medicines and assist in the day-to-day running of the Practice Dispensary.

Experience:

  • IT literate.
  • Experience of EMIS clinical system.
  • Experience of Titan.
  • Experience of working in a dispensing practice or pharmacy.
  • Experience of dealing with the public.

Qualifications:

  • IT literate.
  • GCSE in Maths and English.

Practical Skills:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team.
  • Ability to project a positive and friendly image to patients and visitors.
  • Familiar with medical terminology.
  • Experience of handling cash.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment.

Innate Abilities and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Flexibility of working hours.
  • Able to use own initiative.
  • Calm and self-reliant.
  • Able to be firm without appearing rude.
