In this role you will provide comprehensive package technologist support and packaging component expertise through the design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards for various company and outside sub-contracting packaging sites.

Scope of the Role

  • Develop and prepare packaging specifications and bills of materials, cost estimates and rationalizations, and present projects for approval.
  • Conduct and document package testing for component approval or troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with other Business Units and functional teams to support launch of new products/packages and develop promotions and displays, develop cost savings initiatives, and troubleshoot packaging problems.
  • Work closely with other Business Units to troubleshoot and resolve packaging issues associated with packaging component quality, packaging equipment, and packaging line efficiencies.
  • Provide deviation resolutions related to packaging component quality.
  • Coordinate, conduct, and document packaging line trials for new or improved packaging components.
  • Manage changes; resolve or escalate project issues using red flags or scope changes.
  • Work closely with team members, managers, and directors to clearly articulate project status, noted issues and potential solutions.
  • Participate in the selection of new equipment and/or tooling.
  • Design tests or experiments for various packaging components.

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or other engineering scientific discipline; typically, five or more years of progressively responsible packaging development experience in an operational environment.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of EU GMPs.
  • Ability to execute testing protocols for a wide variety of packaging components.
  • Proven ability to work independently toward specific goals and to exercise initiative in identifying projects.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to develop sound economic analysis, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of methods in package design, testing, and packaging materials, tooling, methods improvement, ergonomics, and project management skills.
