Job Description Overview
In this role you will provide comprehensive package technologist support and packaging component expertise through the design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards for various company and outside sub-contracting packaging sites.
Scope of the Role
- Develop and prepare packaging specifications and bills of materials, cost estimates and rationalizations, and present projects for approval.
- Conduct and document package testing for component approval or troubleshooting.
- Work closely with other Business Units and functional teams to support launch of new products/packages and develop promotions and displays, develop cost savings initiatives, and troubleshoot packaging problems.
- Work closely with other Business Units to troubleshoot and resolve packaging issues associated with packaging component quality, packaging equipment, and packaging line efficiencies.
- Provide deviation resolutions related to packaging component quality.
- Coordinate, conduct, and document packaging line trials for new or improved packaging components.
- Manage changes; resolve or Escalate project issues using red flags or scope changes.
- Work closely with team members, managers, and directors to clearly articulate project status, noted issues and potential solutions.
- Participate in the selection of new equipment and/or tooling.
- Design tests or experiments for various packaging components.
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or another engineering scientific discipline; typically, five or more years of progressively responsible packaging development experience in an operational environment.
- Possesses thorough knowledge of EU GMPs.
- Ability to execute testing protocols for a wide variety of packaging components.
- Proven ability to work independently toward specific goals and to exercise initiative in identifying projects.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to develop sound economic analysis, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, and a commitment to customer service.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge of methods in package design, testing, and packaging materials, tooling, methods improvement, ergonomics, and project management skills.
