We are currently hiring an Energy Manager to improve the energy and utilities efficiency standards and support continuous improvement and the adoption of best practice in energy consumption and cost strategy. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guidance and support and adding value in the development and maintenance of tasks which include policy, legal compliance, engineering projects, procurement, reporting, employee awareness and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the procurement of commodity-traded utilities to reduce cost, working in partnership with Group Procurement and the risk management consultants.
  • Set the utility budgets for all areas of the business on an annual basis and manage costs and compliance associated with water and trade effluent.
  • Compile carbon and water roadmaps for the company to satisfy legislative and commercial requirements.
  • Develop effective management information showing specific consumption and trends.
  • Manage the data and billing and consumption requirements of all varied company locations.
  • Maintain knowledge of present and any future legal compliance with all relevant UK legislation.
  • Principal assessor for the Energy Saving Opportunities Scheme (ESOS) and complete energy reduction audits to the standard required by the ESOS.
  • Manage climate change levy tax relief documentation with HMRC and suppliers.
  • Develop and coordinate a site surveying programme to monitor compliance with best practice and policy.
  • Develop the company energy management policy and strategy documentation.
  • Identify areas of major waste or in need of in-depth study and identify specific opportunities for consumption reduction.
  • Develop and deliver education and awareness training to cover best practice, optimise process methods and reduce consumption.
  • Identify and deliver projects to improve the simplification and automation of utility data collection, handling and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the utilities markets and energy conservation, as well as experience with engineering projects, particularly those involving multiple process disciplines.
  • Experience of working in a risk management environment and an understanding of current UK energy and Carbon related legislation.
  • Capability to financially manage cost centre and project budgets, with experience working with an integrated business management system.
  • Ability to collate and manage data into informative and relevant reports and to present to management and project teams in clear and concise way.
  • Have a current valid UK driving licence.
