A growing, specialist recruitment business in the food & drink manufacturing (FMCG) space is looking for a hands-on Team Leader / Manager to take ownership of an established team in central Manchester.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to step into a business that’s still in its early growth phase (approaching year three), but backed by highly experienced, billing directors who know the market inside out.
The Opportunity
You’ll be stepping into a pivotal “number two” role – managing and developing the team day-to-day, while the directors focus on strategic growth and client relationships. The environment is collaborative, relationship-led, and quality-driven – this is not a transactional, KPI-heavy culture. In fact, they’ve been known to turn away business that doesn’t align with their values.
There is the option to remain hands-on with billing if you enjoy it, but it’s not essential. The priority is taking the day-to-day management responsibility off the directors and leading the team effectively.
The Team
- 5 Permanent Recruiters
- 2 Interim Recruiters
- Plans to hire an additional 2 consultants
You’ll be managing this team directly, helping shape performance, culture, and future growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of recruiters
- Supporting both perm and interim desks
- Acting as the key bridge between consultants and directors
- Driving performance while maintaining a supportive, grown-up culture
- Playing a key role in scaling the business and building brand presence in the FMCG market
What They’re Looking For
- A proven biller with leadership experience
- Track record of developing junior recruiters/rookies into successful consultants
- Experience across permanent recruitment, with some exposure to interim/contract
- Background in FMCG, manufacturing, or food recruitment is ideal (but not essential)
- Open-minded, people-first leader who can guide a team through a period of transition
The Environment & Benefits
- Stunning central Manchester offices (right by the Cathedral)
- A genuinely social and supportive culture (quiz nights, team events, regular celebrations)
- Monthly lunch clubs + company-wide incentives
- Recent team trip to Madrid
- Healthcare scheme (including dental, physio & more)
- Hybrid working available after probation (or sooner for high performers)
Why Join?
This is a chance to step into a leadership role where you can really make your mark – shaping a team, influencing culture, and helping build a recognised brand in a specialist market. You’ll be trusted, supported, and given the autonomy to lead properly – not micromanaged.
