Futures Public Safety are looking for a Specialist Database Administrator to join our customers IT and Digital Directorate. In this role, you will provide expert technical support and administration for critical database systems, ensuring they remain secure, reliable, and high performing. You will play a key role in maintaining business‑critical databases, resolving complex technical issues, and supporting the continuous improvement of database services across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database environments, including legacy systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex database incidents escalated from first and second‑line support.
- Monitor database performance and carry out performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Implement configuration changes, system updates, and database patch management.
- Maintain high levels of database availability, reliability, and data integrity in line with service level agreements.
- Work collaboratively with service desk teams, suppliers, and internal IT teams to resolve issues and improve services.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to the knowledge management database.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and IT standards.
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to ensure service continuity.
About You
You will have strong technical knowledge of database systems and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a fast‑paced environment. You should have:
- Experience managing relational databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving database incidents.
- Knowledge of database performance monitoring and optimisation.
