We are looking to appoint a flexible and hands-on Site Engineer to join a growing engineering services team supporting customers across the UK and overseas. This is a field-based role focused on reactive maintenance, fault finding, inspections, repairs and technical support within a heavy electrical/mechanical engineering environment.
The successful Site Engineer will respond to urgent site issues, carrying out investigations and rectification works, supporting commissioning and maintenance activities, and producing detailed technical reports. You will also support wider site operations, audits and planned engineering activities when not attending reactive call outs.
This opportunity would suit an experienced field service, maintenance or commissioning engineer with strong fault-finding skills and experience working within HV/LV, industrial, utilities or heavy engineering environments.
Key Responsibilities- Attend customer sites across the UK and Europe to respond to breakdowns, faults and urgent engineering issues.
- Carry out investigations, diagnostics and rectification works on electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Perform inspections, repairs, replacements and adjustments on site-based systems and associated equipment.
- Support maintenance, commissioning and testing activities where required.
- Complete technical documentation including reports, service sheets, RAMS and photographic evidence.
- Work independently on customer sites while following lone working and health & safety procedures.
- Support wider engineering and site services activities including audits, SOP preparation and planned maintenance tasks.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and safety at all times.
- Install, remove and refit mechanical assemblies and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform repairs, adjustments and alignment work on site equipment.
- Assist with dismantling and reassembly activities using safe lifting and handling methods.
- Fault find and inspect control wiring, terminal blocks and associated electrical systems.
- Assist with electrical testing and functional checks during investigations and maintenance activities.
- Carry out visual inspections and condition assessments.
- Follow all site-specific RAMS and company safety procedures.
- Previous experience within a field service, site engineering, maintenance or commissioning role is essential.
- Experience working within industrial electrical/mechanical engineering environments is essential.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Apprentice trained or qualified within Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Understanding of health & safety procedures and risk assessments.
- ECS/CSCS accreditation preferred.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Experience working in HV/LV or utility environments would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Flexible approach to travel and reactive site attendance.
