Futures are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to join an established supplier of high-value capital equipment serving the construction, infrastructure and utilities markets.

This is a territory-focused position covering the North of England, suited to a commercially driven sales professional with experience selling heavy plant, access equipment, machinery or similar capital equipment.

The successful candidate will take ownership of their region, developing new business while building and expanding relationships with existing customers.

You'll be given the autonomy to manage your territory and sales pipeline, with a strong emphasis on getting in front of customers and identifying opportunities to grow revenue.

You will be responsible for generating and converting sales opportunities across a broad customer base, including main contractors, civil engineering businesses, utilities, groundworks companies and other major construction organisations.

The Role

  • Taking commercial ownership of the North of England territory.
  • Identifying and securing new customers and project opportunities.
  • Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities for further growth.
  • Selling high-value plant, machinery and specialist equipment solutions.
  • Building relationships with key decision-makers across construction, infrastructure and utilities.
  • Understanding customers' operational and project requirements and recommending appropriate equipment solutions.
  • Managing opportunities through the complete sales process, from initial contact and qualification through to commercial negotiation and close.
  • Maintaining an active pipeline and planning territory activity effectively.
  • Developing long-term customer relationships that generate repeat and ongoing business.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A successful track record selling capital equipment, heavy plant, access equipment, construction machinery or a closely related product.
  • Experience dealing with customers across construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities.
  • Demonstrable experience of winning new accounts and closing high-value sales.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at multiple levels within customer organisations.
