Futures Recruitment are looking to appoint a Production Manager to lead end-to-end manufacturing operations within a high-value, low-volume production environment. The Production Manager will play a critical role in delivering bespoke products where quality, reliability, and attention to detail are paramount. The ideal candidate will combine strong operational leadership with a deep understanding of complex build processes, lean methodologies, and stringent quality controls.
Production Manager β Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop the production team to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring all operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in line with build schedules.
- Manage resource planning and allocation across skilled teams working on multiple parallel projects.
- Drive a culture of right-first-time build, maintaining rigorous quality standards throughout every production stage.
- Ensure all processes, documentation, and outputs comply with industry regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality systems (ISO, AS, or equivalent).
- Implement and promote lean manufacturing principles tailored to a low-volume, high-mix production setting.
- Analyse production performance metrics to identify inefficiencies, improve cycle times, and reduce non-value-add activity.
- Champion consistent process optimisation, tooling development, and build method refinement.
- Translate technical build requirements into practical, achievable production plans.
Production Manager β Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or similar role within a high-value, low-volume engineering or manufacturing environment (examples: aerospace, motorsport, precision engineering, medical devices, specialist machinery).
- Demonstrable track record in leading teams and improving operational performance.
- Solid working knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
