We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering focused manufacturer that has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and technical expertise. With a busy order book and ongoing investment in its manufacturing operations, the business is looking to strengthen its engineering team through the appointment of a Production Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful production environment where you'll work closely with manufacturing teams to improve processes, resolve technical challenges, and support the efficient delivery of high-quality products across machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly operations.
The Production Engineer will work closely with production, quality, design, and planning teams to improve manufacturing methods, support day-to-day operations, and ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities- Review and improve existing production processes across machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly areas.
- Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, routings, and process sheets.
- Support the smooth introduction of new products, methods, and process changes into production.
- Investigate production problems and implement practical, effective solutions.
- Work with shop floor teams to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and increase productivity.
- Assist with the development and implementation of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and production aids.
- Support continuous improvement activity across quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve technical and manufacturing issues.
- Monitor production performance and recommend improvements where required.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are robust, repeatable, and aligned with customer and quality requirements.
- Previous experience in a Production Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar role.
- Experience within a traditional engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, or similar production processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Experience creating or improving manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with shop floor and office-based teams.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process development.
- Relevant engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience.
