We’re recruiting on behalf of an established engineering/manufacturing client who are looking to hire a Mechanical Inspector to join their Quality team, reporting to the QA Manager. This role is responsible for ensuring mechanical components, sub-assemblies and finished items meet engineering, quality and compliance requirements, supporting production continuity and customer expectations.
Key responsibilities:
- Inspect incoming components against drawings, specifications and purchase order requirements
- Carry out in-process and final inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies
- Identify, document and raise non-conformances in line with QMS procedures
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions where required
- Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications
- Complete dimensional inspection using manual measuring tools and CMM (where applicable)
- Maintain calibration status and traceability of inspection equipment
- Record inspection results and quality data accurately in the ERP system
- Support goods-in and goods-out checks during busy periods
- Maintain housekeeping standards and follow safety/compliance requirements including ATEX
Experience:
- Mechanical engineering background or strong practical inspection experience
- Confident reading and interpreting mechanical engineering drawings
- Mechanical inspection or quality assurance experience
- ERP experience and good MS Office skills
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
