Futures Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Switchgear Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on the design, manufacture, installation and support of LV/MV switchgear solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong electrical background who understands switchgear systems and enjoys solving technical problems in a practical, fast-paced environment.
As an Electrical Switchgear Engineer, you’ll be responsible for supporting switchgear projects from initial technical requirements through to manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning:
- Reviewing technical specifications, drawings and customer requirements
- Supporting the design and engineering of LV/MV switchgear and electrical distribution systems
- Producing and reviewing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Selecting appropriate components, protection devices and switchgear equipment
- Providing technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams
- Carrying out or supporting FAT, testing and commissioning
- Troubleshooting electrical and switchgear-related faults
- Working closely with project managers, customers, suppliers and site teams
- Ensuring designs and installations comply with relevant electrical standards and safety requirements
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with switchgear, control panels or electrical distribution equipment
- A strong understanding of LV and/or MV electrical systems
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of protection, control and distribution equipment
- A relevant electrical/electronic engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively across engineering, production and project teams
