Our client is a market-leading UK engineering business specialising in the design, manufacture and support of specialist commercial vehicles. With a long-standing reputation for quality and innovation, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mobile HGV Technician to join their growing service team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV technician who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems and providing first-class customer support. You'll be based from home, covering your local region in a fully equipped service vehicle, carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a modern fleet of specialist commercial vehicles.
The Role
As a Service Engineer with a HGV background you'll be responsible for ensuring customers' vehicles remain safe, reliable and operational throughout the year. You'll undertake planned servicing, fault finding, repairs and emergency breakdown support while delivering a professional service at customer sites. The role is varied and offers genuine autonomy, backed by excellent technical support, ongoing manufacturer training and industry-leading diagnostic equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on specialist HGVs.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and complete repairs to minimise customer downtime.
- Complete all service documentation electronically using a company tablet.
- Maintain excellent customer relationships while representing the business professionally.
- Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and technical support teams.
- Support seasonal operational requirements, with increased demand during the winter months.
About You
We're keen to speak with experienced commercial vehicle engineers who have:
- A minimum of three years' experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or PSVs.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Previous experience working in a mobile service role (desirable but not essential).
- Experience working on leading commercial vehicle brands such as Mercedes or DAF would be advantageous.
- An HGV Class 2 licence (or willingness to obtain one) would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
- Flexibility to support seasonal call-out requirements.
