We are looking for a talented, collaborative and motivated Junior Designer to join our Portland Design team on an initial 12‑month Fixed‑Term contract. As a Junior Designer you will craft visually stunning and interactive content that enhances brand engagement and the customer journeys. You’ll collaborate with strategists, branding consultants, graphic and interior designers, architects and signage & wayfinding specialists to create brand experiences and places that people will love. Our reach is international – allowing you the opportunity to work across a number of exciting local, national and global projects at varying scales.
Responsibilities
- Design and produce multimedia content including graphics, animations, videos, and interactive presentations that can be utilised across the Portland Design team.
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary design team to deliver creative solutions aligned with the project strategy and design drivers.
- Develop engaging assets for clients and internal communication assets such as presentations, websites, social media, and digital experiences.
- Edit and optimise video and audio content for various media platforms.
- Ensure all designs are consistent, accessible, and optimised for performance.
- Stay ahead of trends in customer experience design, digital signage, and interactive media.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure designs align with brand guidelines and spatial concepts.
- Collaborate with strategists and designers to create intuitive interfaces for digital touchpoints.
- Develop motion graphics, animations, and video content to support brand storytelling and brand activations.
- Utilise strong visual and illustrative skills, coupled with animation ability to continue to support and strengthen team output.
- Provide assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance; contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and Living Design.
- Proactively ask questions and express a curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
- Participate in design reviews, charrettes, and pin‑ups.
Qualifications
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
- Strong skills in motion graphics and video editing.
- Strong time management and organisational ability.
- Ability to visualise concepts within physical spaces and adapt designs for large‑scale displays.
- Familiarity with digital signage systems and retail technology platforms [preferred].
Software Skills
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro) [required].
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and interactive design [required].
- Experience with 3D visualization or AR/VR content creation [preferred].
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS for interactive media [preferred].
Education
- Degree in Multimedia Design, Digital Media, or related field.
