Join to apply for the Intermediate Designer role at Perkins&Will. We are looking for an exceptional and creative 3D Designer to join our Portland team, working on an exciting array of local and global projects within multiple sectors (Retail, F&B, Workspace, Aviation, Branded Environments). We strategise and design through the lens of people, behaviour, and journeys, allowing us to work across a diverse range of scales, from retail pop-ups to master planning entire airports.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passionate and proactive approach to the development, translation, and implementation of a creative project vision across the full spectrum of the design process, from brief development to technical drawings, and everything in-between. You should be a highly creative and conceptual individual with excellent skills in strategic thinking, interior design, and effective communication of ideas through different mediums. Experience working within a similar specialist organisation is a must, and you should be able to clearly demonstrate your ability to work from concept to completion.

In this position, you will be expected to:

  • Get involved with researching briefs and coordinating design content.
  • Support creative leads and take an active role in client engagement.
  • Contribute and maintain the high visual standard that Portland Design sets and ensure continuous innovation.
  • Take a supporting role in client meetings and confidently present design work.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen client and design team relationships.
  • Attend site meetings when applicable and liaise confidently with contractors, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
  • Support in the creation of presentations for senior team or client approval.
  • Be hands-on in creating concepts and integrating research into presentation decks.
  • Manage your own time and workload, keeping the senior team updated.
  • Produce concept work through hand-drawing or digital media.
  • Develop yourself and those around you.
  • Keep abreast of design trends, brands, and new technologies.

Please note that due to the nature of our work and projects, some local or international travel may sometimes be required.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Must possess design talent, creative energy, management, and organisational skills.
  • Good knowledge of the interior/architectural design process.
  • Good knowledge of materials and specifications.
  • Able to work well in a team environment and foster strong working relationships.
  • Able to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems.
  • Able to provide excellent, consistent service to internal and external clients.
