Position Description
As Assistant Kitchen Manager you will be responsible for directing kitchen staff to meet daily goals and tasks, while maximizing guest satisfaction and maintaining a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively with Kitchen Manager to keep budget expenses within limits; identifies and communicates ways to improve and streamline operations.
- Keeps General Manager/Kitchen Manager informed of problems and proposes alternative solutions.
- Maintains a clean and safe facility.
- Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce foodborne illness risk factors.
- Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ensures clear communication with vendors supplying restaurant equipment and supplies.
- Performs walk-throughs and temperature checks in the kitchen.
- Assists in ordering food, produce, liquor, and restaurant supplies.
- Assists in receiving deliveries and checks paperwork to ensure receipt of items; directs staff for stocking items.
- Performs and can assist in all functions of kitchen operations.
Qualifications
- Basic skills such as sanitation, safety, and customer service taught through in-house training.
- Must be able to communicate clearly.
Physical Requirements / Work Conditions
- High level of mobility and flexibility.
- Ability to work irregular hours under high stress during peak times.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High level of coordination; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
- Ability to fit through openings up to 30 inches wide.
- Frequent reaching, bending, pushing and pulling; exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors.
