Position Description

As Assistant Kitchen Manager you will be responsible for directing kitchen staff to meet daily goals and tasks, while maximizing guest satisfaction and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Works cooperatively with Kitchen Manager to keep budget expenses within limits; identifies and communicates ways to improve and streamline operations.
  • Keeps General Manager/Kitchen Manager informed of problems and proposes alternative solutions.
  • Maintains a clean and safe facility.
  • Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling to reduce foodborne illness risk factors.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensures clear communication with vendors supplying restaurant equipment and supplies.
  • Performs walk-throughs and temperature checks in the kitchen.
  • Assists in ordering food, produce, liquor, and restaurant supplies.
  • Assists in receiving deliveries and checks paperwork to ensure receipt of items; directs staff for stocking items.
  • Performs and can assist in all functions of kitchen operations.

Qualifications

  • Basic skills such as sanitation, safety, and customer service taught through in-house training.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly.

Physical Requirements / Work Conditions

  • High level of mobility and flexibility.
  • Ability to work irregular hours under high stress during peak times.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of coordination; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
  • Ability to fit through openings up to 30 inches wide.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, pushing and pulling; exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors.
  • Continual standing and walking.
