The Procurement & Purchasing Data Analyst will partner with Procurement, Finance and Insights to ensure customer and PerkinElmer data is complete, accurate, and accessible. This role has a specific focus on contract intelligence, vendor performance, and procurement decision support – translating operational data from OneSource and ServiceMax into actionable insights that drive smarter contracting decisions.
The Data Analyst duties include collaborating with other data professionals to extract data figures, creating reports based on their findings, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to determine business initiatives’ success.
Job Responsibilities
- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.
- Locate, define, and go live with new process improvement opportunities.
Vendor Performance & Capability Insights
- Provide visibility into vendor performance beyond individual assets – analyzing trends across asset classes, sites, and regions, including response times and resolution rates.
- Support identification of appropriate vendors when assets are not on contract, enabling comparisons based on capability, speed of response, and repeat visit rates.
Define What Good Looks Like For Contract Recommendations
- Specify and maintain mandatory elements for every contract recommendation, including: contract status and entitlement, warranty position, asset criticality and utilization, failure and downtime history, and strategic supplier linkage.
Contract Data Ownership & Quality
- Own the contract data model linking assets, contracts, entitlements, and work orders; identify and take accountability for data quality.
- Maintain system linkage between contract records and operational performance data, ensuring integrity across connected platforms.
Contract Decision Rules
- Translate operational practice into structured decision logic covering: non-negotiable rules (warranty, regulatory), best-practice guidance (risk-based coverage), prioritisation logic (criticality vs redundancy vs cost vs uptime), and retrospective review logic to assess whether the right contract decisions have historically been made – including ad-hoc vs contract spend analysis.
Basic Qualifications
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.), databases (SQL, etc.), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks).
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.
- Bachelors Degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience OR Associates Degree and 7+ years of relevant work experience OR Highschool Diploma and 10+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Experience
- Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
- BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics or related experience.
- Experience with Data Visualization Software, preferably PowerBI.
- Proficient in use of SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Knowledge of EAM / CMMS systems desired; experience with SAP.
- Understanding of procurement and contract management principles, including vendor assessment, entitlement management, and spend analysis.
- Experience querying or working with Salesforce / ServiceMax data, or equivalent CRM / FSM platforms, to support operational and procurement reporting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven operational ability to visualize, identify steps and implement processes.
- Exhibits strong bias for action and results orientation, tackling tough problems with firm deadlines, championing positive change.
