As a key member of the Scientific Support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of laboratory instrumentation across GSK R&D sites. Your primary focus will be to deliver high-quality calibration, certification, and verification services, supporting a broad range of laboratory equipment essential to scientific research and development. By combining technical expertise with a proactive, customerâfocused mindset, you will contribute to our mission of delivering innovative healthcare solutions with precision and care.
Responsibilities
- Carry out calibration services to Laboratory Instrumentation including but not limited to Balances, RH Probes, Temperature probes, pressure gauges, multimeters, and weights.
- Liaise with staff regarding the services required for the efficient installation, maintenance, moves and relocations and support of proposed items of instrumentation.
- To qualify, redeploy and calibrate equipment, either by direct application of own expertise or develop knowledge via original equipment manufacturers training to ensure that those ramifications of new technologies are readily understood, in order to transfer the knowledge gained to respective team leaders and their team members via training sessions/schedules.
- Use knowledge and experience in helping to ensure that a high standard of safety of equipment is maintained.
- Develop knowledge and expertise so that those ramifications of new technologies are readily understood.
- Offer guidance on scientific aspects of proposed equipment to be purchased by GSK.
- Perform Verification activities on equipment sent off site for Calibration, ensuring Customer requirements are met at all times.
- Conform, when required, to individual service record documentation protocols that exist within the GSK company departments.
- Discuss all essential points arising from the above duties with the section leader or his deputy and implement any mutually agreed suggestions from these discussions.
Qualifications
- Strong background in laboratory instrumentation and metrology.
- Experience working within GxP-regulated environments.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical or other highly regulated scientific/engineering sectors.
- Handsâon experience with OEM equipment and related training.
- ISO and UKAS calibration knowledge.
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a relevant Science discipline.
- ONC, HNC/HND, or City & Guilds qualification in Engineering or Electronics.
- Experience in inspection and testing processes.
- Valid driving license.
