What you’ll be doing (in a nutshell):

  • Providing a 24/7 confidential support service via telephone, virtual, and face-to-face counselling for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, debt advice, and family issues.
  • Based on one of East Kent NHS Trust's sites, providing short-term counselling to NHS Employees in person.
  • Utilising technology to stay connected to the team and engaging in home-based working, delivering structured counselling to employees across sectors.

Day to day you can expect to:

  • Conduct telephone assessments and referrals for ongoing psychological support.
  • Deliver video and face-to-face counselling sessions for NHS employees.
  • Deliver psychoeducation workshops and trauma support.
  • Signpost clients to external resources for specialist support.
  • Offer real-time support to employees and managers, including high-risk cases.
  • Assist the EAP team with referral work and administrative tasks.
  • Work rotational shifts: 8am–4pm | 12pm–8pm.
  • Occasional on-call duties (max 3 times/year).
  • Bank holiday cover on a rotational basis.

To be successful you’ll have:

  • Level 4 Diploma in Counselling (essential).
  • Accredited membership with BACP / NCPS.
  • Experience in telephone and face-to-face counselling.
  • 400+ clinical hours post-qualification.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience within an EAP setting (advantageous).
  • Computer literacy and the ability to work autonomously and in a team.
