What you’ll be doing (in a nutshell):
- Providing a 24/7 confidential support service via telephone, virtual, and face-to-face counselling for issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, debt advice, and family issues.
- Based on one of East Kent NHS Trust's sites, providing short-term counselling to NHS Employees in person.
- Utilising technology to stay connected to the team and engaging in home-based working, delivering structured counselling to employees across sectors.
Day to day you can expect to:
- Conduct telephone assessments and referrals for ongoing psychological support.
- Deliver video and face-to-face counselling sessions for NHS employees.
- Deliver psychoeducation workshops and trauma support.
- Signpost clients to external resources for specialist support.
- Offer real-time support to employees and managers, including high-risk cases.
- Assist the EAP team with referral work and administrative tasks.
- Work rotational shifts: 8am–4pm | 12pm–8pm.
- Occasional on-call duties (max 3 times/year).
- Bank holiday cover on a rotational basis.
To be successful you’ll have:
- Level 4 Diploma in Counselling (essential).
- Accredited membership with BACP / NCPS.
- Experience in telephone and face-to-face counselling.
- 400+ clinical hours post-qualification.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches.
- Experience within an EAP setting (advantageous).
- Computer literacy and the ability to work autonomously and in a team.
